Transplant Journey #3

Our journey to Mark's third transplant began yesterday as we traveled to Baltimore. Packing for 5 weeks was a challenge! Not only did we pack clothes, but we also packed dialysis supplies, medication, Mark Thomas' toys, and tons of books and lecture materials (I will be teaching my courses using an online format while we are in Baltimore). We are very pleased with the town home we are renting in Baltimore. The town house is unbelievably nice...a perfect place to recover from surgery! We hope to post pictures at some point during our stay. I am impressed with the home the modern decor and artsy feel...Mark is impressed by the fact he can walk to Camden Yards!

We are now at Hopkins for Mark's first blood draw. In addition, Mark is having a "Davol catheter" placed in his neck for the plasmapheresis treatments he will complete this week. The procedure to place the catheter is quite uncomfortable. We are both anxious to have this behind us. Please keep Mark in your prayers!

So glad to read an update today! Of course, you, Mark and your mom will be lifted up in prayer. A special prayer for the pre-transplant procedures to go well........exceptionally well. I can only imagine the anxiety level as THE DAY approaches. May God's peace and comfort flow over each of you, as He is want to do for His children!
Let us know the time of the transplant on the 31st........

Kellie, I will keep you, Mark, your mom and everyone else connected in my prayers. My God be your strength and your portion. As I'm still home/bedbound, I will be spending a lot of time praying specifically for all of you. Sending love your way. Kelly Wahle

Dear Mark and Kellie,
You are in our thoughts and we are praying for your healing, Mark. "Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him." Matthew 8:3
May the Great Physician put forth His hand and heal you. The hand that fashioned the universe is strong enough to heal you and gentle enough to hold you in His care.

Kellie and Mark, May God make smooth your paths, and may His grace and mercy be your rear guard. He is able to do far more than we can ask or think, so I am believing Him for perfect healing for you, Mark as you go through this procedure. Kellie, I know something about being the spouse who has to watch the process. The key word is trust. Remember how Peter was able to walk on the water toward Jesus until he took his eyes off the Lord? Fasten your eyes on Him and do not allow doubt and unbelief to invade your thoughts or your speech. Remember also that the power that raised Jesus from the dead resides in His followers. That's us. Be strong in the Lord because that is where your strength lies. My prayers are with you.

Mark and Kellie,
We are praying for your journey and all people involved. We miss you all in Harlan. I still wish Makayla and Mark Thomas were at Holy Trinity. It's hard to believe how fast they grow. Trust in God and keep your focus on the rewards. Thank you for keeping us updated.
